BAPTISM

Baptism

We believe that baptism is for the individual who: has received the saving benefits of Christ’s atoning work, has a relationship with Christ, and is growing to become more like Him. In obedience to Christ’s command and as a public testimony of faith, a believer should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, by immersion.

Water baptism by immersion symbolizes a person’s union with Christ in the likeness of His death and resurrection. It signifies that a former way of life has been put to death through Christ, and depicts a release from being a slave to sin. CrossBridge Church believes, practices, and teaches believer’s baptism. We believe it is a significant celebration and act of obedience in the life of the believer.

We do believe that if you were baptized as a believer prior to attending CrossBridge Church, you do not have to be baptized again unless your baptism preceded conversion.

We are careful with the baptism of children, and take special interest in meeting with them to make sure they understand the importance and significance of baptism, and that it does not play a part in one’s salvation, although it is symbolic of salvation and an act of obedience, as explained above.

For anyone interested in baptism, we do request a baptism interview be set up with one of the elders to discuss the biblical significance of baptism, frequently asked questions, and to give you an opportunity to share your testimony.
