10. He Was Called Jesus
Luke 2:8-21
Our text continues to point to the sovereignty of God as Luke records in verse 21, “He was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.” Luke records three events that all point to Jesus. These events are the "Shepherds out in the Field”, the “Angel of the Lord appeared to them”, and “All who heard it wondered”.
These events all point to the sovereignty of God and the deity of Christ. These doctrines help us understand the gospel of Christ. Jesus, the incarnate God has revealed Himself to us as the God/Man so that we can understand the greatness and the majesty of God in providing a Savior. This text is all about Jesus and His Gospel.
