4. Glorifying God

2 Corinthians 9:12-15

As we finish up our series on Biblical Stewardship we want to conclude it with the sole purpose of mankind. That is, we are to bring glory to God in everything that we do. The Scripture teaches us that “...whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”  So, we are...

2 Corinthians 9:12-15

As we finish up our series on Biblical Stewardship we want to conclude it with the sole purpose of mankind. That is, we are to bring glory to God in everything that we do. The Scripture teaches us that “...whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”  So, we are instructed to glorify God.

Unfortunately, we live in a time where our generation is thankless and seems to be only concerned about ourselves. We do not recognize God much less honor God or even more importantly glorify God. However, God commands all believers including each of us to bring glory to God. Today, the text we’ll be looking at gives us specific instructions on how we can bring glory to God and what that produces.

3. Biblical Prosperity

2 Corinthians 9:6-11

We learned last week about biblical generosity. The Macedonians set the example of biblical generosity by giving in the midst of their poverty. They gave of themselves to Christ even while they were under severe oppression. Paul showed us the example of Jesus Christ who left the glories of heaven and all the riches of heaven, and "became poor for our sakes that we might become rich.” He did all this for the purpose of...

2 Corinthians 9:6-11

We learned last week about biblical generosity. The Macedonians set the example of biblical generosity by giving in the midst of their poverty. They gave of themselves to Christ even while they were under severe oppression. Paul showed us the example of Jesus Christ who left the glories of heaven and all the riches of heaven, and "became poor for our sakes that we might become rich.” He did all this for the purpose of glorifying God the Father.

In our text today Paul is speaking to the Christians in Corinth who are aware of the need in Jerusalem. The believers in Corinth are better off financially than those who lived in Macedonia and Jerusalem. As Paul speaks to the Corinthian believers he talks to them about giving to those in need, being generous, and giving with a God- honoring motivation. As Americans, we are better off financially than so many others around the world. We are blessed. But what do we do with what God has blessed us with? Paul is speaking to us as well. Are we willing to give to those in need, will we be generous, and do we give with a God-honoring motivation?

1. Biblical Stewardship

Luke 16:1-13

When we speak of biblical stewardship, we're not talking about just money and finances. It's fundamental for us to understand that we must be stewards of all that we are and everything we have and we must recognize everything comes from God.

Biblical stewardship is much more than just managing our time, our talents, our money, and our service to the Lord. True Biblical stewardship is about what we do after we say, "Jesus Christ is my Lord." It's acknowledging Jesus' Lordship and then living it out in practical expression each and every day. Let's look together in our text in Luke 16 and see what true Biblical stewardship is.
